It's a ' CIRCUMCISION CLAMP!

Circumcision is the surgical removal of the prepuce or 'foreskin' which covers the head of the penis.

This Gomco clamp was used to hold the foreskin during the procedure. It also protected the rest of the penis from accidental damage and reduced bleeding during the surgery.

An Ontario family doctor owned this clamp during the 1960s, when circumcision was more common ' almost routine. Today, circumcision is usually performed for religious, cultural, or specific medical reasons; fewer than half of newborn Canadian males are now circumcised.
